Glen E. Spade Jr., 88, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born in Akron, Ohio, Glen was the son of the late Glen and Eva Spade, Sr. He earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Glen was a WWII US Army veteran who served in Italy, Germany and France. He was a plant and engineering manager of several companies before starting his own business Spade Drainage Supply in Huntertown, IN until his retirement. Glen was a member of the Methodist Church as a child and received his salvation in the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ on October 4, 2016 in the presence of his son and daughter-in-law. During his retirement Glen visited New Zealand, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Germany, Austria, France, Netherlands, Denmark, and England. He was an avid painter and artist. He also enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and travel. Surviving are his children, Eric (Elaine) Spade of London, KY, Gail (Robert) Bailey of Sacramento, CA, David Spade of Fort Wayne, Jennifer Spade of Reno, NV, and six grandchildren. Glen was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Spade, and his two sisters. The family will be holding private services. Memorials may be made to the University of Michigan Alumni Association. D.O.McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
